2000 Buick LeSabre Coil Springs Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the front coil springs and shock absorber on 2000 Buick LeSabre?
A: Start your suspension strut service and repair work by assembling these essential tools: j 3289-20 holding fixture along with j 34013-b strut compressor and j 34013-38 alignment rod. The repair and servicing requires using three necessary tools: j 3289-20 holding fixture and j 34013-b strut compressor in addition to j 34013-38 alignment rod. Mount the strut onto the j 34013-b then use the compressor forcing screw to apply slight spring pressure. Secure the strut shaft from rotation with a socket before removing the 24 mm strut shaft nut using a 24 mm wrench. After placing the j 34013-38 alignment rod you should start loosening the compressor screw while guiding the strut shaft out so the strut and spring can be extracted. Installation requires both the j 34013-b strut compressor together with the j 34013-20 to clamp the strut shaft. The flat section on upper spring seats should be oriented toward the outside while reinstalling the bearing to the spring seat when necessary. When positioning the spring properly over the strut you should move the assembly upright into the strut compressor before installing the upper locking pin. Insert the j 34013-38 into the strut guide strut shaft before using the compressor screw to turn clockwise while guiding the alignment rod to the center strut shaft position. Use the compressor forcing screw to thread through the strut shaft until it reveals itself before you place on the washer and nut and maintain safe fastener operation. After removing clamp j 34013-20 from the strut shaft it is necessary to tighten the strut mount nut to 75 nm (55 ft. Lbs.) while guiding the strut shaft with the socket before removing the strut from the strut compressor.
