2000 Cadillac DeVille Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in a system on 2000 Cadillac DeVille?
A: The first step in accumulator replacement starts with using the a/c refrigerant recovery recycling and recharging system (J 39500-B) for refrigerant recovery from the system. Disconnect the positive Battery Cable from the accumulator cover top and afterward remove the a/c line from its snap clamp on the cover. Start by removing the accumulator cover followed by the evaporator hose assembly after which disconnect the suction hose from the accumulator. Remove the accumulator by disengaging its retainer clamp first. The electronic halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) should be used for checking proper sealing during installation. Install the new accumulator while checking the condition of the sealing washers for replacement of damaged units. Fasten the evaporator hose assembly to the accumulator using a retaining nut that should reach a torque of 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Tighten the retaining nut of suction hose on the accumulator while keeping the torque at 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Reposition the accumulator cap by checking all three snap fittings engage properly before you place the a/c line inside the snap clamp. Refrigerant system recharging should be performed while attaching the positive cable to its original position. Occupy the last step with testing the a/c system for leaks.
