How to service and repair the Exhaust Pipe on 2000 Cadillac DeVille?

The exhaust crossover pipe can be serviced by removing the transaxle assembly and left and right side Exhaust Manifold bolts first. Replacement of the egr valve inlet pipe becomes necessary when disconnecting a crush seal at the water crossover point. Before installation start by removing the egr inlet pipe from the exhaust crossover and extracting the exhaust front pipe. The crossover pipe servicing requires a first step to remove the bolt attached to the crankcase followed by the nut linked to the ignition module ground wire to the Cylinder Head then the bolt holding the crossover pipe to the Cylinder Head before finally freeing the crossover pipe. Start the installation by applying the two flange seals to the crossover pipe before positioning it with the left-hand Exhaust Manifold joint remaining loose. Install the exhaust front pipe after resorting to hand tightening the support bolts (1,3). Install the Cylinder Head support bolt together with the crankcase support bolt until both reach a torque of 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). The installer must reinstall the ignition module ground wire nut which should be tightened to 17 nm (13 ft. Lbs.) torque setting on the Cylinder Head. Start by screwing the left hand Exhaust Manifold bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Start the connection of egr inlet pipe-to-crossover pipe by hand to avoid cross-threading then use 60 nm tension (44 ft. Lbs. Torque value). Finally, reinstall the transaxle assembly.
