2000 Chevrolet Impala Brake Line Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line on 2000 Chevrolet Impala?
A: When replacing the rear brake hose you need to raise your vehicle properly to a secure position. Clean all foreign matter from contacts between the brake hoses and fittings before removing the rear wheel and tire. Apply a spare wrench tool to disconnect the brake pipe from brake hose while keeping the pipe and bracket free from bends. Move the retainer clip from the brake hose bracket and pull the hose out of its position. The brake hose assembly should be taken apart through the caliper by first removing the brake hose bolt and then pulling out its components: brake hose and two sealing washers. Begin installation by tightening the brake hose bolt then position the hose correctly in the brackets without bends, keeping the hose paint stripe aligned. Secure the brake hose bolt at 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm) and join the brake pipe to the brake hose through a back up wrench while avoiding damaging the bracket and pipe. Slide the new retainer clips on hose joints at the brackets before placing the rear tire and wheel then lowering the car to finish with brake bleeding.
