2000 Chevrolet Impala Brake Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Brake Master Cylinder on 2000 Chevrolet Impala?
A: Start Brake Master Cylinder repair by removing the component without affecting how the screw holds the primary spring to the secondary Piston. Examination of the reservoir cap and diaphragm can be done right through the master cylinder. You should clean the reservoir cap and take it out with the diaphragm. Replace these parts if they show cuts, cracks, nicks, or deformed structure. Press down on the primary Piston delicately while removing its reservoir and retainer part to prevent harming the Piston and inner bore components. Into the upper port at the blind end blow non-lubricated compressed air at low pressure to remove the primary and secondary pistons along with the spring and spring retainer. Inspect the master cylinder parts for damage by removing both seals and spring retainer from the secondary Piston . Replace the cylinder if you find scoring or corrosion. Use clean denatured alcohol to clean all parts and dry them using non-lubricated compressed air. Insert the spring retainer with lubricated seals onto the secondary Piston then add the spring and Piston into the cylinder bore using brake fluid for lubrication. Insert the lubricated primary Piston into the cylinder bore and push it down before fixing the retainer. First put the master cylinder reservoir back into position before putting the diaphragm into the reservoir cap and sealing the reservoir with its cap. As the last step, install the master cylinder.
