• Q: How to replace the throttle body assembly on 2001 Cadillac Seville?

  A: First, relieve the fuel system pressure to change the Throttle Body assembly. The air cleaner intake duct , positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve fresh air tube, and cruise control the cable from the accelerator controls cable bracket . Next, disconnect the accelerator cable from the accelerator controls cable bracket , the cruise control cable from the Throttle Body lever and accelerator control cable from the Throttle Body lever . Remove the idle air control (IAC), electrical connector, from the iac valve and the throttle position (TP) sensor and the electrical connector from the tp sensor . Loosen the fuel feed and return hoses from the retainer on the accelerator controls cable bracket off of it, the transaxle shift cable clip on the accelerator controls cable bracket, and the Throttle Body off the water crossover. Lastly, remove the accelerator controls cable bracket from the Throttle Body. Avoid using methyl ethyl ketone during installation. Instead, one should employ the use of carburetor cleaner to eliminate deposits. Make sure that the outlet of the air cleaner assembly and the maf sensor inlet duct are correctly aligned to prevent air problems. Do not use the old Throttle Body Gasket again. Mount the accelerator cable bracketto the Throttle Body and tighten the bolts to 12 n.m (106 lb in). Position a new Throttle Body Gasket on the Throttle Body, and add bolts from the Throttle Body to Throttle Body spacer, finger tightening the two lower bolts before tightening all bolts to 12 n.m (106 lb in). Reconnect the iac valve electrical connector to the iac valve to the tp sensor electrical connector to the tp sensor . Install the accelerator control cable at Throttle Body lever, cruise control cable at Throttle Body lever, and the accelerator cable to the accelerator controls cable bracket. Install back the cruise control cable to the accelerator controls cable bracket and the transaxle shift cable clip to the accelerator controls cable bracket. Then reconnect the fuel feed and return lines from the retainer onto the accelerator controls cable bracket, and the clamp for air cleaner intake duct to its respective duct, tightening the clamps to the extent of 3 n.m (27 lb in). Install the new positive crankcase valve (PCV) valve fresh air tube and fuel injector sight shield. Perform tp sensor learn procedure by moving ignition to run/on for 1 minute and then to lock/off for 15 seconds. For learn procedure of iac valve, let the engine run for 15 seconds while the engine is started and idle, switch ignition to lock/off about 15 seconds, and then restart the engine to check for proper idle operation.
