How to replace a water pump on 2001 Chevrolet Malibu?

The first step to replace the Water Pump involves draining the cooling system followed by loosening the pulley bolts while removing the Drive Belt. Remove the Water Pump Pulley bolts and them follow it with pulley removal then proceed to remove Water Pump bolts, pump and its gasket. The Water Pump mating surfaces should be cleaned prior to gasket and pump installation. Use 10 nm torque (89 inch lbs.) to tighten the Water Pump bolts. Tighten the Water Pump Pulley bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) after placing the Drive Belt in position. Complete the cooling system then perform a comprehensive leak check.
