The first step to replacing the front brake rotor is to have ready your tools, especially the j41013 rotor resurfacing kit. Start by lifting the vehicle and putting it on stands, then take off the tire and wheel. To prevent damage and leaks, always use heavy mechanic's wire to support the brake caliper when it's disconnected from the mount but still attached to the flexible brake hose. After that, lift and hold the caliper and bracket together using heavy mechanic's wire, and then take out the brake rotor. Before fitting the new rotor, remove all rust and contaminants from the wheel bearing flange and the surface that contacts the rotor to prevent increased lateral runout and pulsation. After cleaning the wheel hub surface with j41013, set the new brake rotor in place and attach the caliper bracket after that. After that, put the wheel and tire back on and lower the vehicle.
