2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the engine mount on 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: The replacement of engine mounts starts with disconnecting the negative cable from the battery. Routine the removal sequence by starting with throttle body air inlet duct followed by Engine Mount struts and then elevating the vehicle with proper supports. Remove the right front wheel with its tire. After that detach the three-way catalytic converter pipe from the right (rear) exhaust manifold followed by removing the right engine splash shield and the right front wheel. You must now use the universal engine support fixture (J 28467-B) equipped with engine support adapters (J 28467-90A) and engine support adapter leg set (J 36462-A) to lift the engine which has had its Engine Mount lower nuts removed. Tear away the Engine Mount bracket bolts which keep the oil pan in position then uninstall both Engine Mount components and Engine Mount bracket; finish by removing the upper Engine Mount nuts. First set the Engine Mount onto the Engine Mount bracket while installing the upper nuts at 47 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). Mount the Engine Mount bracket with Engine Mount onto the oil pan after securing the bracket-to-oil pan bolts at 58 nm (43 ft. Lbs.). After lowering the vehicle and engine you should lift and position it for installing the Engine Mount lower nuts while using 43 nm torque (32 ft. Lbs.). The right engine splash shield should be reattached with the right front wheel and tire and the three-way catalytic converter pipe needs to be connected to the right (rear) exhaust manifold. The last step requires you to drop the vehicle before removing the engine support fixture while reinstalling Engine Mount struts before connecting the battery ground cable.
