    A: In order to replace the engine front cover, you have to remove the drive belt tensioner, the drive belt idler pulley bolt, and the drive belt idler pulley. Then, remove the bolts of the crankshaft balancer and engine front cover as well as the engine front cover and gasket provided that the gasket is not thrown away if damaged. In installation, a little sealant GM P/N 12345739 (Canadian P/N 10953541) or its equivalent at the split-line between the upper and the lower crankcase. Position the engine front cover gasket over the crankcase dowel pins and the engine front cover on the crankcase and bolt in with the retaining bolts. Tighten the engine front cover bolts in the sequence indicated to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). After this, replace the crankshaft balancer, followed by drive belt idler pulley, fitting its bolt that is to be tightened 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.), and drive belt tensioner.
