    Q:
How to replace the engine front timing cover on Buick Lucerne? Posted by Customer
    A:
The process of replacing the engine front cover begins with draining the cooling system through static fill or vac-n-fill methods. To begin the procedure start by disconnecting the drive belt tensioner followed by the removal of Oil Pan and crankshaft balancer and crankshaft position actuator magnet as well as Thermostat Housing and Water Pump. Start by removing the bolts securing the front engine cover then pull off the coolant hose and separate the combination of front engine cover and gasket. Begin installation by laying down the engine front cover gasket before setting the engine front cover in its position. Screw and torque the engine front cover bolts to 25 nm (18 lb ft). Process by reinstalling the Water Pump together with the Thermostat Housing and crankshaft position actuator magnet before adding the crankshaft balancer and Oil Pan and drive belt tensioner. To finish the cooling system installation use static fill or vac-n-fill for fluid addition.

    Q:
How to remove and install the timing cover on Cadillac DeVille? Posted by Customer
    A:
When removing the Timing Cover begin by uninstalling the drive belt tensioner followed by removing the drive belt idler pulley and finally taking off the crankshaft balancer. Secure the vehicle then suspend it in the air before putting your support under the engine assembly using a proper jack. Start by taking out the Engine Mount bracket nut that holds the Engine Mount to the bracket before unfastening the bracket nut which holds the Power Steering Hose in position. You need to start with bolt removal from the Engine Mount bracket that secures to the engine before removing the bolts from the front cover. During replacement remove the front cover and gasket but keep the gasket unless it shows damage as you can reuse it. Start installation by first mounting the engine front cover followed by the crankshaft balancer. First tighten the Power Steering Hose to the Engine Mount bracket with a nut to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.) before installing bolts that hold the Engine Mount bracket to the engine at a torque of 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Secure the Engine Mount to the Engine Mount bracket by installing its nut with 80 nm (59 ft. Lbs.) torque. Put away the engine support jack while lowering the vehicle before you add the drive belt idler pulley and secure it with a 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) bolt. You must then add the drive belt tensioner.

    Q:
How to replace the engine front timing cover on Cadillac DTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
In order to replace the engine front cover, you will need to remove the drive belt idler pulley and the crankshaft balancer. Then, you should remove the engine front cover bolts, and then remove the engine front cover with the gasket, which can be re-use if the damage is not done. For installation, spread a small amount of sealant at the split place between upper and lower crank cases by the correct part number from Sealers, Adhesives, and Lubricants. Feed the engine front cover gasket on the crankcase dowel pins and then position the engine front cover over the crankcase. Apply threadlock to the engine front cover bolts using the correct part number from Sealers, Adhesives, and Lubricants threads: install the bolts until snug and follow the Fastener Notice for the correct handling. Snug the engine front cover bolts by the specified sequence to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Lastly, use the crankshaft balancer and the drive belt idler pulley one more time.

    Q:
How to remove and install the timing cover on Cadillac Seville? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before removing the Timing Cover, detach the drive belt tensioner, the drive belt idler pulley and finally the crankshaft balancer. Lift and support the vehicle and support the engine assembly using the appropriate jack. Next, remove the nut that tightens the Engine Mount to Engine Mount bracket, and the nut that tightens the Power Steering Hose with the Engine Mount bracket and take out the bolts that join Engine Mount bracket with the engine then you read out the brackets with the engine. Then, unscrew the front cover bolts and lift the front cover and gasket, making sure that the gasket is not thrown away unless damaged because it can be reused. You would begin by installing the engine front cover, then the crankshaft balancer. Mount the bolts attaching the Engine Mount bracket to the engine and tighten them with 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Next, install nut fixing the Power Steering Hose to the Engine Mount bracket further fixing it to 9 nm 80 inch lbs(). Finally, attach the nut on the attachment of the Engine Mount to that on the Engine Mount bracket and tighten it to 80 nm (59 ft. Lbs.). Remove the car to remove the engine support jack, lower the car, and finally fix the drive belt idler pulley by tightening the bolt to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) before refixing the drive belt tensioner.

    Q:
How to service the timing cover on Cadillac Eldorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
A proper timing cover service begins with tensioner drive belt removal followed by idler pulley drive belt and crankshaft balancer extraction. Start by removing the bolts securing the front cover. After that, detach the front cover assembly and retrieve the gasket. The gasket can be used again unless it shows signs of damage. Start your installation process with the engine front cover followed by the crankshaft balancer installation. Follow the fastener notice to obtain correct torque values when you perform installation. Reinstall the drive belt tensioner followed by installation of the drive belt idler pulley through a 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) torque bolt.
