• Q: How to replace the intake manifold on 2002 Cadillac Seville?

  A: Begin the Intake Manifold replacement procedure by removing the 2 nuts which secure the Intake Manifold sight shield before removing the sight shield from the engine compartment. Start by unplugging the coil module connectors at each coil module in the camshaft covers then eliminate both pcv tubes from the camshaft cover. You must start by disconnecting both fuel regulator vacuum tube and aif solenoid vacuum tubes and Fuel Rail quick-connect fittings for inlet and return flow. If the engine has a coolant heater wire you must remove 2 pushnuts securing it before taking out the rear lift bracket Fuel Rail retaining nut. Security electrical connectors need removal from the eight fuel injectors while four bolt fasteners secure the Fuel Rail into place on the Intake Manifold. Lift the Fuel Rail and injector assembly off the Intake Manifold while loosening the plenum duct clamp at the rear of the manifold. Use a screwdriver to remove the 10 bolts which connect the Intake Manifold to the cylinder heads. Raise the manifold assembly from the front then inspect and clean the component before installation. After ensuring the plenum duct fully reaches the back of the Intake Manifold install the plenum duct clamp with a torque setting of 2.25 nm (20 inch lbs.). The Intake Manifold Fuel Injector bores need light mineral oil gm p/n 9981704 or clean engine oil or equivalent for lubrication before the entire Fuel Rail and injector assembly is installed through bore press insertion. Screw in and tighten all four Fuel Rail bolts securing the manifold using 10 nm torque (89 inch lbs. Force). Hook up all 8 electrical wires to their designated fuel injectors and place any present engine coolant heater wires onto the Fuel Rail studs before adding the two pushnuts. Position the Fuel Rail bracket retaining nut at the rear lift bracket before applying torque of 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Connect the quick connect fittings to the Fuel Rail and the vacuum tubes to the air solenoid then join the fuel regulator vacuum tube to the pcv fresh air tube and pcv dirty air tube and coil module connectors to each coil module installed in the camshaft cover. The fuel leak check requires activating the ignition switch to on for two seconds followed by a ten second period in off before returning to on position. When complete install the 2 Intake Manifold sight shield nuts to the engine while maintaining a torque setting of 3 nm (27 inch lbs.) .
