2003 Buick Park Avenue Motor And Transmission Mount Parts and Q&A
Q: How to replace the rear automatic motor and transmission mount on 2003 Buick Park Avenue?
A: In order to replace the rear automatic transmission mount first lift and support the vehicle. Pull off the power steering gear heat shield, and disconnect the power steering pressure hose and return hose from the Rack And Pinion and hang them from the exhaust pipe. Once you support the transaxle using a transaxle support stand it is now clear to remove nuts off the mount bracket along with the lower bolts and nut from the mount. Then, remove the three retaining bolts from the mount bracket, and remove the mount and mount bracket from the vehicle. For installation, install the mount and the mount bracket on the vehicle and apply thread lock compound gm p/n 12345493 or equivalent to the rear transmission bracket bolts. Mount the bracket onto the mounting surface such that the countersunk hole on the bracket aligns with the threaded hole in the mounting surface. Then install the retaining bolts to the mount bracket and tighten them in at 63 nm (46 ft. Lbs.) of torque. Mount the lower bolts and nut onto the transmission mount, tighten them to 50 nm (37ft.lbs.) and the upper nut on the mount, tighten to 50 nm (37ft.lbs.). Then remove the transaxle support stand, reinstall the power steering return hose and pressure hose to the Rack And Pinion and then the power steering gear heat shield. Finally, lower the vehicle.
