The initial step to replace the rear automatic transmission mount begins by lifting the vehicle while supporting it at an elevated height. Start by removing the power steering gear heat shield before disconnecting the power steering pressure hose and return hose from the Rack And Pinion positioning each hose from the exhaust pipe. Place a transaxle support stand under the transaxle before extracting mount bracket nuts followed by removing lower bolts and nut from the mount. The next step requires removal of three retaining bolts from the mount bracket and subsequent removal of the mount and mount bracket from the vehicle. Install the mount and mount bracket to the vehicle by applying gm p/n 12345493 or equivalent thread lock compound to rear transmission bracket bolts. Secure the mount bracket retaining bolts with a torque of 63 nm (46 ft. Lbs.). Attach the transmission mount lower bolts and nut onto the mount, tightening them to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.)the mount installation procedure included tightening the upper mount nuts to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). After removing the transaxle support stand users should install power steering return hose and pressure hose to the Rack And Pinion unit before placing the power steering gear heat shield.
