2005 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear Motor and Transmission Mount on 2005 Buick Park Avenue?
A: The replacement process begins by elevating and suspending your vehicle for work. First remove the power steering gear heat shield and detach both power steering pressure hose and return hose from the Rack And Pinion before hanging them on the exhaust pipe. First install a transaxle support stand underneath the transaxle before removing all mount bracket nuts followed by lower mount bolts and bracket nut. Remove the mount bracket's three retaining bolts before pulling out the mount bracket assembly from the vehicle. To install the mount system place the mount and mount bracket on the vehicle and apply thread lock compound gm p/n 12345493 or equivalent to the rear transmission bracket bolts. After positioning the retaining bolts onto the mount bracket, torque them to 63 nm (46 ft. Lbs.). Install the transmission mount lower bolts and nut onto the mount before torquing them to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Afterward, install and tighten transmission mount upper nuts to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). After removing the transaxle support stand the technician will reinstall both power steering hoses to the Rack And Pinion unit before installing the power steering gear heat shield before lowering the vehicle.
