2003 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) on 2003 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The procedure to replace the powertrain control module (PCM) requires that the ignition remains off throughout the process of disconnecting and reconnecting power to the pcm components that include Battery Cable together with pcm pigtail and pcm Fuse and jumper cables. The procedure starts by taking off the wheelhouse filler panel followed by the tac module along with disconnection of the pcm electrical harness connectors. Keep the rear retaining fastener of the pcm loosely secured while using it to anchor the outer bracket until you can safely remove the front retaining fastener from the pcm. Remove the pcm from both the bracket and its vehicle while placing the pcm outer bracket in its correct position. During installation insert the pcm to the rear bracket followed by positioning the front bracket then fasten the front retaining components at 2.0 n.m (17 lb in). Attach electrical connectors to the pcm by torquing them to 8 n.m (70 lb in) then place back the tac module and wheelhouse filler panel. The service programming system (SPS) procedures must program new pcm systems during installation.
