• Q: How to replace the instrument panel dimmer switch on 2003 Chevrolet Malibu?

  A: To remove the instrument panel (I/P) Dimmer Switch, first, disable the sir system. Dismount the instrument panel cluster trim plate and disconnect the Hazard Warning Switch if required from its electrical connection at the i/p carrier. Next, disconnect the electrical connector from the Dimmer Switch and use a small flat-bladed to pull back the retaining tabs for the Dimmer Switch. Take the Dimmer Switch from the front of the i/p cluster trim plate by pushing outward. For installation, position the cut-out in the i/p cluster trim pan with the cut-out in the Dimmer Switch body and press until it is in complete. Replace the i/p trim plate onto the i/p carrier back and energise the sir system, if necessary, whilst reconnecting that electrical connector to the Dimmer Switch and also to the Hazard Warning Switch.
