2003 Chevrolet SSR Body Control Module Parts and Q&A
Q: How to replace the Body Control Module (BCM) on 2003 Chevrolet SSR?
A: Disconnect the bcm replacement project from the bcm by opening the convertible top while also leaving the Ignition Switch in the off position. Before work start disconnect the battery negative terminal and detach the rear upper garnish molding. Move the floor console forward to free access the bcm electrical connectors. Take off the two retainer tabs holding the bcm mounting bracket to the console bracket then one tab more and pull out the complete unit from the frame. Remove the bcm from its vehicle position by disconnecting five connectors including gray, white, black, blue, and brown. To take out the mounting bracket from the bcm just push the retention clips open. Rephrase the following sentence. When using a replacement bcm, mount the bracket to the bcms body while making sure the retaining tabs sit fully against the surface. Join the brown connector , blue connector , black connector , white connector , gray connector to the bcm. Place the bcm set with bracket on top of the console bracket then put in the tab that locks the mounting bracket before adding the remaining two tabs to secure the bcm bracket. Install the floor console and rear upper garnish panel then reconnect the battery power and set up any new bcm if needed. Finally, close the convertible top.
