2004 Chevrolet SSR Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Body Control Module (BCM) on 2004 Chevrolet SSR?
A: Before replacing the bcm, raise the convertible top and put the Ignition Switch in the off position before working with ac electrical connectors. Take off the rear upper garnish and access the bcm electrical connectors through the available space under the floor console after disconnecting the battery's negative terminal. Drop the two retaining tabs that hold the bcm bracket to the console bracket in this sequence. After that, place single tab last to take the bcm and bracket assembly out of place. Remove the bcm from the vehicle once you disconnect the gray connector, white connector, black connector, blue connector, and brown connector. To change the bcm take out its retention clips and detach the mounting bracket from the previous unit. Connect the gray connector , white connector , black connector , blue connector , and brown connector to the new bcm first while placing its mounting bracket correctly and making sure the retaining tabs lock in place. Set back the bcm assembly and bracket onto the console bracket then tighten the retaining tab and the two mounting bracket tabs. Reinstall the floor console and rear garnish molding. Reposition the negative battery wire after programming the new bcm when necessary.
