2004 Cadillac DeVille Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the right engine mount on 2004 Cadillac DeVille?
A: Start right Engine Mount service and repair by raising and supporting the vehicle while removing its right front wheel. Place a suitable jack under the engine assembly and unfasten the Engine Mount nut that attaches to the Engine Mount Bracket. After decreasing the jack height the engine will lower itself so you can remove the support. Start by removing the nut along with bolt securing the right Engine Mount to the frame rail followed by removal of the 2 nuts holding the right Engine Mount to the frame rail. Lower the vehicle and remove the surge tank retaining bolts before setting them off to their own location. The vehicle should be raised and all frame rail retaining screws from its bolts must be removed. Pushing up on the frame rail bolts will create space for the mount clearance when the top of the mount rotates away from the vehicle in order to remove the right Engine Mount. Install the right Engine Mount by directing it into position using the right motor mount support bracket and frame rail bolt clearance achieved through upward force. Before lowering the vehicle install the frame rail retaining screws by tightening them until they reach 4nm torque value (35 in.lbs). The vehicle should be elevated again for jack support of the engine assembly which requires installation into its proper position. Fit the right Engine Mount attaching bolt along with the nut onto the frame rail before tightening the right Engine Mount nuts against the body rail to 70 nm (52 ft. Lbs.). Fasten the right Engine Mount Bracket using a nut while tightening it to 80 nm (59 ft. Lbs.). Separate the engine support jack while placing the right front wheel and allowing the vehicle to lower before mounting the surge tank.
