2005 Cadillac DeVille Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the right engine mount on 2005 Cadillac DeVille?
A: First elevate the vehicle while providing support before uninstalling the right front wheel. A suitable jack should support the engine assembly while you remove the nut from connecting the Engine Mount to the Engine Mount Bracket. Lower the jack a fraction to enable the engine descent before removing the support. The first step involves removing the bolt and nut which secure the right Engine Mount to the frame rail. Then comes the procedure of eliminating the 2 nuts which fasten the right Engine Mount to the frame rail. You should first lower the vehicle and take out bolts that secure the surge tank before placing the surge tank in another location. Reposition the vehicle into its elevated height after removing the retaining screws from the frame rail bolts. The frame rail bolts need to be pushed upward while clearing the mount until the mount top swings away from the vehicle before removing the right Engine Mount. To install position the right Engine Mount against the right motor mount support bracket and align the mount by escalating the frame rail bolts to enable its placement. After lowering the vehicle install the frame rail retaining screws before overtightening them to achieve 4 nm (35 inch lbs.). The vehicle should be raised once more after which a suitable jack should be used to support the engine assembly before placing it at the desired height. Secure the frame rail by installing the right Engine Mount attaching bolt along with the nut then fasten the right Engine Mount to the body rail while tightening them to 70 nm (52 ft. Lbs.). Fasten the right Engine Mount nut to its bracket on the right Engine Mount brick with a torque setting at 80 nm (59 ft. Lbs.). The first step is to remove the engine support jack before installing the right front wheel while lowering the vehicle. As the last step you should install the surge tank.
