2004 Cadillac DeVille Seat Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Seat Motor on 2004 Cadillac DeVille?
A: Before replacing the seat adjuster motor, deactivate the SIR system. Then, take away the seat from the car and disconnect the seat cushion to reach the seat adjuster motors. Select which of the two motors requires replacement. In the example provided by the user, it is noted that one is labeled as motor A and the other as motor B. These labels do not always specify the purpose of the motors, so it would be wise to check the latter by measuring the amperage and voltage of each (Fig. 7, Fig. 8) or by noting the performance of each motor over standard load conditions. The motor that performs more poorly or draws more current and power is the motor that would require replacement. the rear vertical adjuster motor , rear vertical adjuster motor , front vertical adjuster motor , front vertical adjuster motor , or the horizontal adjuster motor . Remove the seat adjuster drive cables from the motor and remove the electrical connector. Remove the factory motor inserts and hold motor to bracket by laying seat back with the seat motor plate facing down and drill out with a 3/16 blade shank drilling from the bottom side of seat motor plate. After taking out the motor, place the new seat adjuster motor (1,2,3) onto the motor plate and fix it with the motor insert installed in the motor grommet of the new motor. Install the bolt to secure motor to motor plate and tighten it to 4Nm (36 lb in). Put back the electrical connector and plug in the seat adjuster drive cables. Then install the seat cushion and set the seat back in the car. Last, turn on the SIR system and, if necessary, adjust the memory seats.
