2004 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Secondary Air Injection Check Valve/Pipe on Bank 2 on 2004 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The first step for changing the Secondary Air Injection Check Valve/pipe on bank 2 requires removing the Intake Manifold when the engine has cooled down to avoid burns. You should first remove the right air pipe from the manifold by detaching the clamps and air hoses from the right pipe of the air system and the Cylinder Head bolt before taking out the pipe. The check valve assessment requires attachment of a Vacuum Pump to its nipple channel to reach 10 inches hg while monitoring the gauge. Check valve replacement is necessary if the gauge shows zero reading during a 5-second test. To install the check valve place it on the air pipe while tightening it to 23 n.m (17 lb ft) and secure the right air pipe to the Exhaust Manifold at 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Reinstall the cylinder-head air pipe bolt before housing the check valve with clamp and hose installation and then replace the Intake Manifold itself. Last, inspect the air system operation and reconnect the negative cable before programming transmitter units.
