2004 Chevrolet Corvette Secondary Air Injection Check Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Secondary Air Injection Check Valve/Pipe on Bank 1 on 2004 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: A technician should begin Secondary Air Injection Check Valve/pipe on bank 1 replacement by first loosening the clamp attached to the check valve while ensuring the engine remains cool enough to avoid burns. First detach the Air Hose from the check valve after which the technician can unscrew the check valve from its position on the air pipe. Disconnect the left side air pipe which exists on the manifold. An inspection of the old check valve starts with attaching a Vacuum Pump to its nipple side while pumping to 10 inches hg; when the vacuum drops to zero in less than 5 seconds the check valve requires replacement. The check valve becomes secured to the air pipe by first screwing it in then tightening to 23 n.m (17 lb ft). Insert the air pipe through the exhaust manifold before securely fastening it to 20 n.m (15 lb ft), afterward fix the Air Hose to the check valve by applying the check valve clamp.
