2004 Chevrolet Corvette Steering Angle Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Steering Angle Sensor on 2004 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Identify the type of steering wheel position sensor to be removed before servicing and repairing the Steering Angle Sensor. Test the sensor type and remember that the front of the sensor connector will be on the right when you are holding the process, from the technician's perspective. In case of reusing the already existing sensor, there is no necessity of alignment prior to removal. Pull out the sensor connector and take out the sensor from the adapter and bearing assembly. If you are reusing the sensor, create an alignment mark on the flush rotor flange cuff [before removal] to prevent misalignment when installing the cuff again. For installation, if using a new sensor it comes along with a pin installed; do not pull off the pin until the sensor has found its place. Position the sensor to match the Steering Shaft and insert it into the adapter and bearing assembly and make sure the connector connects successfully. Features of the front of the sensor include a foam ring , a pin hole for the centering pin, a flushed rotor flange cuff and an alignment mark for installation. In case reuse of existing sensor, make sure that the marking on the flush rotor flange cuff is brought to the parallel position until the sensor is fully seated. Repeat the process of alignment and installation for each variant of the sensor, taking special note of the particular features and alignment marks so as to accurately install.
