- Q: How to replace the Engine Mount Bracket on 2004 Chevrolet Impala?A: The first step for Engine Mount and bracket replacement requires the negative Battery Cable disconnect along with the fuel injector sight shield removal. First disconnect the electrical connector of the intake air temperature sensor. Then detach the duct that attaches to the Throttle Body. The next procedure demands removal of right and left Engine Mount struts and Drive Belt while raising and supporting the vehicle. First detach the right front wheel together with tire while also taking out the right engine splash shield and power steering oil cooler pipe brackets that attach to the frame. Detach the A/C Compressor assembly together with its bracket while preserving a/c system gas pressure and find a stable place to set the compressor. Unfasten the right exhaust manifold pipe stud nuts from the Catalytic Converter system and disconnect the Engine Mount lower mounting nuts from the frame structure. The supporting fixture goes under the vehicle before using it to elevate the engine. Cut the vehicle height once more before you remove the Engine Mount bracket bolts from both left and right mounts attached to the engine block. Use jackstands for frame stabilization during the Engine Mount bracket work by first releasing the left frame bolts and then removing the right frame bolts to facilitate the frame lower position. First remove the bracket with both parts of the Engine Mount before taking out the upper Engine Mount nuts. During installation you must connect the Engine Mount to the Engine Mount bracket before securing upper nuts at 43 nm (32 ft. Lbs.). Fitting the Engine Mount bracket to the engine should be followed by installing both right and left Engine Mount bracket bolts loosely before tightening them to 102 nm (75 ft. Lbs.). Position the frame in its original height before tightening the bolts which secure the right side frame to 180 nm (133 ft. Lbs.). Put the engine on the engine support fixture before using it to lower the engine. Position the vehicle back in its normal height afterward you engage the Engine Mount lower nuts to the frame while using 43 nm (32 ft. Lbs.) torque. Position the Catalytic Converter back to the right exhaust manifold before securing right exhaust manifold pipe stud nuts to 30 nm torque (22 ft. Lbs.). First attach the A/C Compressor bracket bolts while tightening them to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.), then attach the A/C Compressor with its nuts secured to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Plant the power steering oil cooler pipe brackets as you move towards installing both the right engine splash shield and the right front tire and wheel. Lower the vehicle while removing the engine support fixture and put back the right and left Engine Mount struts. The last step consists of attaching the air inlet duct to the Throttle Body followed by connecting the iat sensor electrical connector then putting the Drive Belt in place along with the fuel injector sight shield replacement before reconnecting the negative Battery Cable.
