How to replace the front drive shaft on 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer?

A vehicle lift followed by removal of the steering gear crossmember constitutes the first step toward front propeller shaft replacement. Make a mark of the propeller shaft position to the front axle pinion yoke before removing yoke retainer bolts and yoke retainers from the front axle pinion yoke. Pounding on yoke ears or placing tools between Universal Joint and yoke during removal will damage injection joints therefore must be avoided. Users must disconnect the propeller shaft from the front axle pinion yoke before extracting the front propeller shaft from the Transfer Case by wrapping bearing caps with tape to avoid losing bearing rollers. To install the propeller shaft connect it to the Transfer Case until the reference marks match and the Slip Yoke engagement produces a distinct snapping sound. The propeller shaft assembly requires mounting of the front axle pinion yoke while fitting yoke retainers and bolts before torquing front propeller shaft yoke clamp bolts to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). End the process by reinstalling the steering gear crossmember followed by lowering the vehicle.
