- Q: How to replace the front door hinge on 2005 Buick Century?A: Start the replacement of the front door hinge by opening and supporting the door. First remove the intermediate door hinge bolts with the hinge spring before you pull away the door from its position near the front pillar until conduit allows it. Please clean the mounting surfaces for the hinge and make hinge location marks with grease pencil. Remove first the bolts from the door side hinge followed by removing the door side hinge itself. There are four attaching bolts on the body side door hinge including two 13 mm bolts together with a TORX(R) bolt and a single 10 mm bolt. Keep caution while working with the cone attached to the hinge back as it may drop into the front pillar although the hinge adjustment requires no cone removal. Clean the mounting surface of the body pillar and leave marks at the hinge position. To work on the body side hinge bolts you should first remove the front fender insulator while maintaining the cone adjuster bolt tight to prevent door rattling. Registry first the two 13 mm body side hinge bolts and the TORX(R) head body side hinge bolt and afterward remove the body side hinge. The new door side hinge must be aligned with previous marks before application of locking agent Locktite R Blue GM P/N 12345382, Canadian P/N 10953489 or equivalent on door side hinge bolts for final tightening at 33 Nm (24 lb/ft). Position the new body side hinge over the previous marks before you install its two 13 mm body side hinge bolts which should be tightened to 33 Nm (24 lb ft) and its TORX(R) head body side hinge bolt which needs to be tightened to 10 Nm (89 lb in). Install the intermediate door hinge bolts at 33 Nm (24 lb ft) following which you should reinstall the front fender insulator. Following support removal you should adjust the door after which you need to shut it.
