- Q: How to replace the right camshaft on 2005 Buick LaCrosse?A: The right Camshaft replacement process starts with removing the upper Intake Manifold together with the lower Intake Manifold and progressing to remove the Camshaft cover and Camshaft sensors and finally the intake Camshaft position actuator solenoid. Position the Crankshaft at neutral by rotating it with the socket (EN46111) until the camshafts achieve low tension while their flats match the Camshaft rail on the cover. Keep the Crankshaft stationary with an open-end wrench at the Camshaft hex point. Do not take off the Camshaft position actuator bolt at present. Instead, first loosen it while you maintain Camshaft/engine stability with an open-end wrench on the Camshaft hex. Fasten the Timing Chain retention tool (EN46108) into the Timing Chain until it reaches full engagement while tightening its en46108 nuts. To ensure correct assembly mark down the locations of both the Timing Chain and the mating points of the Camshaft position actuators. To continue the Camshaft replacement process remove the Camshaft bearing caps and Camshaft while also taking out the Camshaft position actuator bolt. Before final tightening of the Camshaft position actuator bolt make sure the Timing Chain marks match the ones on the Camshaft position actuators. The camshafts must be placed on the cylinder head before installing Camshaft actuators onto the camshafts. Then install the camshafts followed by Camshaft bearing caps. The open-end wrench should remain in position to restrain Camshaft/engine motion when you apply it to tighten the Camshaft position actuators after installing the Crankshaft balancer by first removing the en46108. As the last steps install the intake Camshaft position actuator solenoid, Camshaft sensors, Camshaft cover along with the upper Intake Manifold over the lower Intake Manifold.
