  • Q: How to replace the lower control arm in the front suspension on 2005 Buick LeSabre?
    A: To replace the lower Control Arm in the front suspension, start by jacking up the car and holding it in the air. Remove the tire and wheel out, stabilize shaft link. Then, remove the lower Ball Joint cotter pin and loosen the lower Ball Joint retaining nut from the ball stud. Use precaution to limit the over-extension of the tri-pot joints in order to avoid internal component separation and joint failure. Tentatively use the j4388 (Ball joint separator J4388) for obliteration of the antero-ball joint from the steering union, thereafter obliterate the lower Ball Joint writhing nut. Begin to remove the lower Control Arm mounting bolts and nuts, and then take out the lower Control Arm from the frame. For installation, you attach the lower Control Arm to the frame without tightening the nuts at first. Support the weight of the vehicle by control arms to obtain correct trim heights. Put in the lower arm bolts and nuts, install and tighten the lower Ball Joint and retaining nut into the Steering Knuckle (preload to 10 Nm (88 inch lbs.) and 150 degree on retaining nut and 55 nm (41 ft. Lbs.) minimum on flats to line up cotter pin slot). Put in the cotter pin, reinstall the stabilizer shaft link and tire and wheel. Lower the vehicle and tighten the Control Arm nuts in the sequence mentioned: the rear mounting bolt to 158 nm (117 ft. Lbs) and the front mounting nut to 126 nm (93 ft. Lbs) respectively. Finally, inspect the trim height.
