Q: How to replace the midgate Weather Strip on 2005 Buick Rainier?
A: The procedure for midgate Weather Strip replacement begins with opening the midgate followed by lifting the midgate sliding hinge panel. Place the retaining clips at the upper position to secure the midgate sliding hinge panel. The first step for midgate Weather Strip replacement involves removing the body-retaining pushpins from the midgate Weather Strip mold followed by taking off the Weather Strip from pinch-weld flange and Window Channel before detachment from the vehicle. Start by setting the new midgate Weather Strip in position on your vehicle before inserting push-pins into the midgate Weather Strip mold in order to install. The paint dots on the Weather Strip should be aligned with Window Channel sheet metal joints before pressing the Weather Strip into the midgate Window Channel beginning at the specified points around its length. Work by placing the Weather Strip onto the lower pinch-weld flange while progressing along the lower midgate opening. The last step involves lowering retaining clips down on the sliding hinge panel to free it until you can close the midgate.
