  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2005 Buick Rendezvous?
A: To carry out an Oil Pan replacement, disconnect the first negative cable of the battery, and right engine strut from engine. Mount the engine support fixture (J36672-B) and lift and hold the vehicle. The A/C Compressor bolts have to be removed for the repositioning of the compressor for obtaining access to the Oil Pan and from the Exhaust Manifold of the Catalytic Converter, which has to be removed from the frame. Drain the engine oil, clear away the oil level sensor interconnection, and discuss the Starter engine. If it has all-wheel drive (AWD), super-vise the removal of transfer case brace; in the case of front-wheel drive (FWD), wrap a suitable utility strap around the transmission case extension housing. Attach one end of the utility strap to the transmission and the other end to an appropriate underbody structure, tighten it in order to prevent the movement of the powertrain. Remove the lower support bar (J 45057-2) and the Engine Mount with the Engine Mount bracket off of the Oil Pan. Wrench under the right side Oil Pan bolts using the torque wrench adapter (J 39505) and then remove the Oil Pan bolts, Oil Pan, and gasket, which should be cleaned from the Oil Pan and surface of the engine block gasket afterward. In it installation, make sure the transaxle brace is in place before proceeding to apply the torque wrench adapter (J 39505) to apply the engine right side Oil Pan side bolts. Mount the Oil Pan Gasket and Oil Pan, then the transaxle brace and the Engine Mount with the Engine Mount bracket. Reinstall the lower support bar (J 45057 2), eliminate the utility strap, in addition to if equipped with awd, set up the transfer case brace. Next, install Starter motor and connect the oil level sensor electrical connector and reinstall the frame. Connect the Catalytic Converter on the exhaust manifolds, installation of the A/C Compressor, lower the vehicle, and removal of the engine support fixture (J36672-B). Lastly, instal the right Engine Mount strut to the engine, top up the engine with oil, and reconnect the battery negative cable.
