• Q: How to service and repair the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and Valve Stem Oil Seal on 2005 Cadillac SRX?

  A: Start repair work of the valve guide seal by taking out the Starter motor. The en 46106 (Flywheel Holding Tool) protects the Camshaft timing system from movement because any Crankshaft rotation requires complete Camshaft reassembly. Remove the camshafts first then rocker arms before taking out the Spark Plug from the targeted cylinder. Secure the j39313 adapter to the cylinder and join it to a compressed air outlet. Set the en 46110 (On-Vehicle Valve Spring Compressor) in position above the cylinder then tighten its valve spring compressor nut. Loosen the drain valve spring compressor nut while you remove the valve keepers so you can uninstall the valve springs and spring retainer. Depress the valve stem seal with the en 46116 valve stem seal remover/installer tool. You can easily install the valve parts using en 46116 as a stem seal installer before you put on the valve spring and retainer assembly. Push the en 46110 part back into place on top of the valve spring before fastening its nut and placing both spring keepers. Unscrew the tool en 46110 and remove the j39313 from the air supply. Complete the process by putting back the spark plugs rockers and camshafts. Take off the valve stem seal tool en 46106 and reconnect the Starter motor.
