  • Q: How to replace the steering knuckle on 2005 Chevrolet Corvette?
    A: To replace the Steering Knuckle, lift and support the vehicle first. Remove the Wheel Speed Sensor and its connector, slip off the brake caliper and rotor, detach the stabilizer shaft link from the lower Control Arm in the Control Arm, and break the brake hose at the steel tube. Jack up the lower Control Arm with a jackstand. To separate the steering linkage outer tie rod ball stud from the Steering Knuckle, upper Control Arm ball joint stud, and finally the lower ball joint stud from the Steering Knuckle use the j 42188 ball joint separator (J 42188). After separating, take out the Steering Knuckle from the vehicle. Then to install, mediate the position of newly Steering Knuckle to the upper and lower control arms, take off jackstand, and install the steering linkage the outer ball stud in Steering Knuckle. Reconnect the stabilizier shaft link to the Control Arm, and tighten the stabilizier shaft link nut to 72 nm (53 ft. Lbs.). Connect the Wheel Speed Sensor electric connector, put then brake rotor and caliper, as well as tire and wheel assembly. Finally, lower the vehicle and check the front wheel toe, adjusting as required.
