2005 Chevrolet Equinox Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) on 2005 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: A scan tool should be used to obtain and document the current engine oil percent-age remaining alongside automatic transmission fluid life percentage because proper module replacement programming requires accurate figures to prevent premature 100% life trigger which starts a 5000 km engine oil change and a 83000 km automatic transmission fluid change process. Begin the replacement by taking out the pcm and pcm bracket from their position on the battery box cover. Then remove the pcm bracket from its installation on the pcm. Disconnect the pcm wire harness from its position behind the battery box cover and negative Battery Cable. Lift the pcm from the vehicle while removing its pcm connectors. Reinstall the pcm inside the vehicle followed by reconnecting the pcm connectors to the pcm , then attach the negative Battery Cable. Reconnect the pcm wire harness to the battery box cover and reinstall both the pcm bracket onto the pcm while also connecting the pcm bracket to the battery box cover. Finally, reprogram the pcm.
