2005 Chevrolet Malibu Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2005 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: Note the 8-digit identification number on the Fuel Rail because it will be necessary for all servicing or replacement work. The first step requires removing the engine fuel feed pipe from the Fuel Rail before relieving the fuel system pressure. You should avoid injury and fire threats by positioning the black o-ring above the brown o-ring during Fuel Injector O-Ring installation if the rings feature different colors. Place caps over the fittings and seal each hole to block entry of foreign matter into exposed pipes and passages. You must first disconnect both the upper Intake Manifold along with main injector harness electrical connector and main fuel injector electrical harness connector. The lock release mechanism of the fuel injector electrical connectors should be elevated until the lock tabs drop to disconnect the electrical connectors. Begin the procedure by disconnecting the Fuel Rail electrical harness and then remove the Fuel Rail bolts and finalize with the Fuel Rail disassembly. Any o-ring seals which show signs of damage due to the fuel must be thrown away. The installation process starts by replacing all broken o-ring seals before oiling the new o-ring seals with pure engine oil then fitting the Fuel Rail assembly into the Intake Manifold by gently tipping it to place injectors. Connect the Fuel Rail assembly with the Fuel Rail bolts while tightening them to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Replace the fuel injector electrical wiring harness with the Fuel Rail before connecting electrical connectors to their appropriate sockets and activating the slide locks. The procedure includes connecting the main fuel injector electrical harness connector while you should also reattach the fuel feed pipe to the Fuel Rail followed by reinstalling the upper Intake Manifold. The last step includes Battery Cable connection while performing an ignition on followed by a 2-second duration then a 10-second off period before checking for leaks.
