How to Replace the Coil Springs (FE7) on 2006 Cadillac DTS?

Vehicle elevation and support are essential before starting replacement of the coil spring (FE7). Start by removing tires and wheels from the vehicle and using a suitable jack to suspend the Control Arm. Separate the electronic level control air tube from the shock then remove the two bolts connecting the shock to the Control Arm and this requires also removing the hex nut. Use the steering linkage puller (J 24319-B) and mount the coil spring compressor (J 44255). The removal process requires you to lower the Control Arm onto the support assembly after which you can pull out the coil spring. Install the new coil spring inside the coil spring compressor (J 44255) while making sure the insulator fits correctly in the Control Arm. Secure and tighten the shock bolts in the Control Arm to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) when the lower Control Arm is in position. Screw the adjustment link into the Control Arm while torqueing it to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) before continuing with an extra 180 degrees of rotation. After connecting the electronic level control air tube to the shock install the tires and wheels on their positions before tightening wheel nuts to 125 nm (80 ft. Lbs.). Lower the vehicle to check the toe before potential adjustments.
