The coil spring (FE7) replacement process starts by lifting the vehicle and providing support and finishing by removing the tires and wheels. First firmly support the Control Arm through the use of an appropriate jack before disconnecting the electronic level control air tube that runs to the shock. First remove the hex nut along with the two bolts holding the shock to the Control Arm then proceed to dismantle the hex nut. Apply the steering linkage puller tool (J 24319-B) before installing the coil spring compressor (J 44255). Use the support assembly to drop the Control Arm before you can remove the coil spring from the setup. Begin by placing the new coil spring inside the coil spring compressor (J 44255) with correct placement of the insulator into the Control Arm's seating. Ascend the lower Control Arm then bolt in the two shock mounts and torque them to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Install the adjustment link on the Control Arm by tightening it to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) followed by an additional 180 degrees of torque. Reconnect the electronic level control air tube to the shock and reinstall the tires and wheels before securing the wheel nuts to 125 n.m (80 lb ft). Before lowering the vehicle check the toe then perform adjustments if required.
