How to service and repair the front coil springs and shock absorber on 2008 Cadillac DTS?

To change and repair the suspension strut, you can remove the strut from the vehicle. Setup jam nuts on strut, compress strut into strut spring compressor (J 45400), with spring out, to free moving strut. The spring compressor forcing screw is then turned until the coil spring is compressed. The 45 torx(R) socket is to hold the strut shaft and the strut rod nut socket (J-35669) is used to remove the strut upper mount nut. After taking the strut out of the strut spring compressor ( J 45400 ), the compressor forcing screw should be loosened until the upper strut mount and coil spring can be came out. Next, replace the coil spring and go on to replace the upper strut mount back into the strut spring compressor - j 45400, and compress the coil spring again. Mount the strut onto the coil spring and strut mount for the upper strut and not tighten the strut retaining nut. Hold the strut shaft using the 45 torx(R) socket and the strut rod nut socket (J-35669) to apply the upper strut mount nut, tightening it to 85 n.m (63 lb ft). Finally, take the strut out from the strut spring compressor (J 45400), and set it back to its place in the vehicle.
