• Q: How to replace the engine oil and oil filter on 2006 Cadillac DTS?

  A: For changing the engine oil and Oil Filter, first of all, raise and support the vehicle. Place the oil drain pan under the engine oil Drain Plug and extract it, cleaning and checking for replacements, if applicable. Also, clean and inspect the sealing surface on the Oil Pan and either repair or replace as necessary. Next, take out the Oil Filter and clean the sealing area in the Oil Filter adapter, where it needs to be repaired or replaced if damaged. Fill the new Oil Filter with oil, lightly oil the gasket with clean oil before installation and tighten it 3/4 to 1 full turn once the gasket comes into contact with the mounting surface. Reconnect the engine oil Drain Plug and secure it with a 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) torque, then site the vehicle and top the engine up with fresh engine oil. Lastly, check for oil leaks following the engine start-up.
