• Q: How to Replace the Secondary Air Injection Pump on 2006 Cadillac DTS?

  A: Starting the replacement of the secondary air injection (AIR) pump requires you to take off the front air deflector first. First disconnect the engine harness electrical connector from the AIR pump and afterward remove the quick connect fittings from the inlet hose and the outlet hose of the AIR pump. First remove the AIR pump bolt to free the part before lifting the pump out from the cradle bracket. When installing the AIR pump you must first place the integral nuts from the pump into cradle bracket holes followed by lowering the pump into position then screw in the AIR pump bolt to 9 N.m tightness (80 lb in). Connect the AIR pump outlet hose quick connect fitting and the inlet hose quick connect fitting to the AIR pump before reconnecting its engine harness electrical connector. The installation requires the repositioning of the front air deflector at this point.
