2006 Chevrolet Cobalt Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: Starting a condenser replacement requires refrigerant recovery followed by lifting and supporting the vehicle. The installation process must end with a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) examination of fittings. Start by detaching the compressor hose from the condenser then handle the condenser tube before you remove the condenser bolts. Use a sliding motion to lower the condenser which will free the upper mounting tabs from the Radiator while you detach both right and left Radiator side baffles. When replacing the condenser users need to add the required polyalkylenee glycol (PAG) oil to the unit directly. After installing the right and left Radiator side baffles, push up the condenser to connect its upper mounting tabs into the Radiator before securing the condenser bolts with a torque of 10 n.m (88 lb in). Begin with installing the compressor hose and new seal washer onto the condenser while tightening the bolt to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Afterward, add the condenser tube and another new seal washer while again achieving a bolt torque of 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Evacuate the system when the vehicle is in the lowest position before starting to charge the refrigerant system.
