  • Q: How to replace the brake drum on 2006 Chevrolet Colorado?
A: To replace the Brake Drum, the first step must involve lifting the vehicle and remove the rear tire and wheel assembly as well as the rear Brake Drum retainer. Before removing the Brake Drum, lubricate with a little penetrating oil around the wheel studs, axle shaft hub, and Brake Drum. If the Brake Drum cannot be removed, remove the rubber plug connected with the backing plate and put a screwdriver in touch with the adjuster lever to slighty push the adjuster actuator lever for unjoining them to join them all again using a second screwdriver sweep the adjuster upward up until it becomes seated then remove the Brake Drum. Clean the mating surface area between Brake Drum and rear axle flange, using wheel hub resurfacing kit (J42450-A). Measure and adjust the rear brake shoes (with Drum to Brake Shoe Clearance Gage J 22364-01) then install Brake Drum plus the tire and wheel assembly, and lower the vehicle.
