2006 Chevrolet Equinox Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the lower ball joint on 2006 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: You need to install the lower Control Arm securely to work on the lower Ball Joint. Use a 5/16 and a 31/64 inch drill bit to pass through Ball Joint rivets before enlarging both holes with the same 31/64 inch drill bit and brushing away remaining burs from the Control Arm. When you extract the Ball Joint from its position take note of its exact location for reinstalling it. Install the replacement Ball Joint after cleaning the Control Arm from impurities and using the same steps used during the disassembly phase. Install the new Ball Joint hardware pieces using the accompanying hardware and making sure bolts enter through the Ball Joint from its top side. Place the lower Control Arm back then tighten bolts and nuts to 68 nm (50 ft. Lbs. Torques).
