2006 Chevrolet HHR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace the Brake Disc on 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
A: To replace the Brake Disc start by lifting and supporting the vehicle under it. Put the c-clamp tool (J 41013) across the brake caliper body and pads. Position its two ends at the caliper back and inner disc pad. Pass the caliper over the disc until you can remove the wheel assembly. Twist the c-clamp to press the caliper piston until it can move around the Brake Disc; keep the clamp on. Secure the brake caliper at its mounting points using mechanic's wire when the caliper needs to be detached from its installation position to prevent strain on the hydraulic brake hose. Carefully move the brake caliper mounting bracket unit from the Steering Knuckle while marking the Brake Disc position on the wheel studs before taking off the disc. Use j 42450-a wheel hub and j 41013 rotor resurfacing kits to eliminate rust and dirt on both hub/axle flange and Brake Disc connection points. Check the Brake Disc faces for all traces of debris before putting the disc onto its matching hub/axle flange location. Test the assembled Brake Disc lateral runout values to confirm the right system performance. Adjust the Brake Disc if its measurements do not meet design requirements. To complete the procedure fit the brake caliper and bracket assembly back on the Steering Knuckle. Reinstall the tire and wheel assembly afterward. Finally lower the vehicle and perform the necessary burning operation if required.
