2007 Chevrolet HHR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace the Brake Disc on 2007 Chevrolet HHR?
A: Start by elevating your vehicle and supporting it before removing both the tire and wheel from the vehicle. Place a c-clamp (J 41013) on the brake caliper body and position it against the caliper's rear and outboard pad until the piston becomes sufficiently compressed for the caliper to clear the Brake Disc. Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire after c-clamp removal to avoid breaking the hydraulic flexible brake hose. Also maintain the hose attachment. Separate the brake caliper along with the mounting bracket from the Steering Knuckle while maintaining brake hose tension free. Mark the Brake Disc position with reference to wheel studs just before unmounting the disc. Use the wheel hub resurfacing kit (J 42450-A) and rotor resurfacing kit (J 41013) to clean away rust and contaminants from the hub/axle flange before installation. Inspect all mating surfaces for debris before you install the new Brake Disc into its correct position using the matchmark reference. Check and adjust the assembled lateral runout (LRO) of the Brake Disc as needed to meet specified parameters. Install the brake caliper and bracket assembly along with the tire and wheel assembly then lower the vehicle before conducting pad and disc burning if you refinished or replaced the disc.
