2006 Chevrolet HHR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the wheel cylinder on 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
A: You need j 38400 Brake Shoe spanner and spring remover to uninstall the Wheel Cylinder. First elevate the vehicle then take off the tire and wheel assembly and follow by detaching the Brake Drum. Check for and eliminate debris around the Wheel Cylinder before taking off the bleeder cap and valve. Extract the brake pipe fitting from the Wheel Cylinder while sealing its open end with a cap to protect the brake system from fluid wastage. Afterwards you need to take off the bolts that attach the Wheel Cylinder to its place. The j 38400 tool expands brake shoes within the backing plate so you can extract the Wheel Cylinder. Install the Wheel Cylinder onto the Brake Backing Plate by first spreading brake shoes with j 38400. Fasten the Wheel Cylinder mounting bolts with 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.) torque settings. Secure the brake pipe into the Wheel Cylinder fitting and tighten it at 19 nm (14 ft. Lbs.) while keeping the pipe cap off. Secure the Wheel Cylinder bleeder valve at 8 nm of torque (71 inch-pound torque). Put back the Brake Drum and run a hydraulic brake system purge before placing the bleeder valve cap on top. Readjust the drum brakes before putting back the tire wheel combination and letting the vehicle down.
