How to replace the drum brake backing plate on 2006 Chevrolet HHR?

To replace the drum Brake Backing Plate you would raise and support the auto with a jack stand remove the tire and wheel assembly and then remove brak drum and break shoes. Next, unscrew the universal spring from the Brake Backing Plate and take off the Wheel Cylinder. Release the rear park brake cable end fitting from the back Brake Backing Plate, then remove the wheel bearing hub and the Brake Backing Plate. For installation, you should start with the new Brake Backing Plate and install the wheel bearing/hub assembly back and then the rear park brake cable end fitting to the Brake Backing Plate. Mount the Wheel Cylinder and the universal spring to the backing part, the brake shoes follow. Adjust the drum brakes, mount the Brake Drum, and bleed the hydraulic brake system (Pressure) and (Manual). Lastly, replace the tire and wheel assembly prior to lowering the vehicle.
