To begin repair work start by lifting the vehicle and extracting the Differential assembly, pinion yoke and pinion oil seal and after that thrust washer should be removed. Use the pinion driver (J22536) to install it firmly on the pinion then drive it out carefully using a hammer while maintaining the pinion within the rear axle housing. The installation of the inner Pinion Bearing cup needs both Pinion Bearing race installer - dana 248 (J45704) and universal drive handle - 3/4 in - 10 (J8092) when working with the 9.75 inch axle or requires the rear Pinion Bearing race installer (J44417) into combination with the same universal drive handle - 3/4 in - 10 (J8092). Users should mount the outer Pinion Bearing cup through a pairing of the inner bearing race installer (J7818) and the universal drive handle - 3/4 in - 10 (J8092). Determine the required thickness settings of the pinion preload shim and selective pinion shim for the drive pinion before reinstalling the Differential assembly and lubricating the axle with proper fluid while performing the vehicle drop.
