2007 Cadillac DTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear axle lower control arm (W/FE1, FE3) on 2007 Cadillac DTS?
A: The repair of the rear axle lower Control Arm (W/FE1, FE3) requires initial removal of the rear suspension support assembly followed by the stabilizer shaft link bolt then stabilizer shaft insulators and spacer. The hub and bearing must be removed separately from the Control Arm before separating the nuts and bolts that attach the Control Arm to the rear suspension support assembly. Prior to tightening the Control Arm nuts allow the vehicle to rest unsupported on its wheels at normal trim height. Position the lower Control Arm to the rear suspension support assembly before installing the Wheel Bearing and hub (when necessary). To complete the installation, follow these steps: bolt the stabilizer shaft link and add the spacer and insulator before tightening the stabilizer shaft link nut to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Install the rear suspension support assembly then torque Control Arm nuts and bolts to 106 n.m (78 lb ft) when the vehicle is at normal ride height.
