How to Replace a Shock Absorber (FE7) Effectively on 2007 Cadillac DTS?

The first step to change a Shock Absorber (FE7) requires vehicle elevation and secure vehicle support. The first step requires wheel and tire removal followed by lower Control Arm support with a jack. Remove the 2 shock retention bolts while disconnecting the electronic level control air tube from the shock to the Control Arm. Start by pulling the trunk trim from the way to reach the upper shock before removing the upper shock dust covering. Then remove the shock by first taking out its 2 nuts and reinforcement followed by unfastening it from the vehicle. The new shock needs to be attached to the same position on the vehicle then the shock upper mount must be installed by following the specified fastening instructions. The shock reinforcement systems should be fitted with the 2 nuts by applying 25 n.m (18 lb ft) torque. After putting on the shock cover secure the trunk trim properly into its place. The installation requires the lower shock bolts to be torqued to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) then connecting the shock to the electronic air control air tube. Fasten the wheel together with tire and complete the procedure by tightening wheel nuts to 125 n.m (80 lb ft). The automatic level control (ALC) system needs 45 seconds of ignition on time before driving to perform the arc while filling the air adjustable shock absorbers with residual pressure. Finally, lower the vehicle.
